Christopher Pappas Explores Identity Through Visceral Digital Collages
Christopher Pappas steps onto the Los Angeles art scene with his compelling debut exhibition, “I Want You To Know Me”. Scheduled from May 30 through June 1, 2025, in L.A.’s Echo Park, this show at 1548 W. Sunset Boulevard presents a visceral honesty and unfiltered exploration of personal identity. The opening reception is scheduled on May 30 at 7:00 PM.
This inaugural presentation features a rousing series of digital collages constructed from authentic medical imagery, including real x-rays, clinical documentation, and intimate photographs of Christopher Pappas’s own hands and feet. Pappas is confronting physical deformity, chronic illness, and emotional vulnerability in his work.

“I am obsessed with the ugly parts of my body,” says Pappas, highlighting his determination to reveal aspects of himself typically kept hidden. The art on display oscillates between discomfort and dark humor, creating an unforgettable and raw commentary on the human condition.
Christopher Pappas Bridges Art and Performance with Wearable Sculpture
Deepening the immersive experience, Christopher Pappas introduces a compelling live performance featuring a specially designed wearable sculpture. This performance vividly captures the physical limitations and mundane struggles the artist endures daily due to his medical condition, diagnosed when he was just 15 years old, which resulted in fused vertebrae and deformed joints. During the event, a performer will don Pappas’s sculptural creation—purposefully restricting the individual’s neck movement—and attempt the seemingly simple task of changing a light bulb from atop a ladder, dramatically mirroring the artist’s own lived reality.

“You can be funny, but you don’t have to be a clown,” Pappas recalls his wife advising him—a sentiment that profoundly shapes his artistic approach. This exhibition is far from passive; instead, it engages viewers, challenging them to reflect on the uncomfortable realities and candid confessions presented. “I Want You To Know Me” blends the perimeters of visual art, performance, and confessional narrative, generating a powerful dialogue about vulnerability, secrecy, and our innate desire for genuine connection.
Christopher Pappas’s first exhibition is provocative and intensely personal, delivering an unforgettable, thought-provoking encounter for all who attend. RSVP to attend the opening reception HERE.
