InLiquid marks Women’s History Month with a new exhibition at Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia titled “The Edge of Abstraction”. Featuring distinguished artists Diane Pieri and Erin Elman, the exhibit, opening March 15 and running through mid-May, highlights the dynamic interplay between abstract form, vibrant color, and expressive materials, showcasing the unique ways these two artists approach abstraction.
The Edge of Abstraction: Exploring Cultural Narratives
Diane Pieri’s work invite viewers into a space of serene contemplation through her sophisticated transformations of naval flotillas into graceful floral patterns. Her work, rich in symbolism and steeped in various cultural traditions, creates visual harmonies that encourage reflection on beauty’s role in our daily lives.

Complementing Pieri’s nuanced approach is the vibrant and energetic work of Erin Elman, whose paintings exist at the compelling intersection of intention and spontaneity. The Brooklyn-born Elman’s work is informed by both Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Her lively compositions, pulsating with color, form an open dialogue between memory and abstraction, bringing a fresh, modern perspective to the genre.
