New Humans: New Museum’s Expanded Space Inaugural exhibit
When the New Museum opens the doors of its new expanded space in Fall 2025, it will present the inaugural exhibition, New Humans: Memories of the Future. This exhibition will explore the ever-evolving relationship between humanity and technology, presenting works by more than 150 international artists, writers, scientists, architects, and filmmakers. The exhibition will focus on how extensive changes in society and technology have influenced our perceptions of identity, human nature, and what lies ahead.

New Humans will take place throughout the entire museum, connecting 20th-century pioneers with contemporary artists. It will feature recent works by Sofia Al-Maria, Lucy Beech, Meriem Bennani, Cyprien Gaillard, Pierre Huyghe, Tau Lewis, Daria Martin, Wangechi Mutu, Precious Okoyomon, Berenice Olmedo, Philippe Parreno, Hito Steyerl, Jamian Juliano-Villani, Andro Wekua, and Anicka Yi, alongside influential figures like Francis Bacon, Salvador Dalí, H.R. Giger, Hannah Höch, El Lissitzky, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Germaine Richier. New Humans will explore how artists respond to cultural and technological changes, highlighting the tensions between dystopian concerns and utopian aspirations in their visions of the future.
Later in 2025, the New Museum will reveal additional programming, including residencies, public discussions, and collaborations that build upon the exhibition’s themes.
